Warning: Power surges, which can occur during electrical
storms, can cause life-threatening electric shocks, or
damage or destroy the device.
• For this reason, do not mount the overvoltage protection module
during an electrical storm. Do not connect or disconnect power
cables during an electrical storm.
• Arrange for a qualified electrician to install all the cables inside the
building.
Important: The device is not designed or intended for use in life-
support systems and/or nuclear facilities. The device can only be
used for these purposes with prior written permission/clarification
from the manufacturer in each individual case.
Improper use may, for example, cause functional restrictions or
malfunctions, the destruction of the device or, in a worst case
scenario, personal injury.
• If you are still uncertain about how to use the product properly
after reading the section below, please contact your specialised
dealer.
• Read the manuals for the device and keep them for future
reference.
Proper Use
The SG-100 and SG-200 devices are overvoltage protection
modules which can be used for medium and fine protection.
These modules protect your router, the modem, the door terminal or
the telephone (referred to as the "telecomms device" below) against
damage by power surges from the connecting cable. These
modules do not provide adequate protection against lightning strikes
that flow directly into the line, if medium protection is not ensured by
measures implemented by the network provider (e.g. in the splitter
or on the domestic connection).
The SG-100 (medium and fine protection) is used for: ADSL with
splitter, ISDN exchange line connection, analogue exchange line
connection, remote analogue extension, remote U
extension or analogue door terminal. This device has two-level
protection, using gas discharge tubes and power surge protection
diodes.
The SG-200 (medium and fine protection) is used for: xDSL
connections (All-IP: VDSL connection, ADSL connection without
splitter). This device has three-level protection, using gas discharge
tubes, power surge protection diodes and capacitively disconnected
current-limiting fine protection.
Important: The SG-100 overvoltage protection module is suitable
for connection to the U
(network termination for basic access)). For information, refer to
your network provider's documentation.
