USB connections (default settings)

By using a USB cable to connect this unit to a computer, the unit can be used to play music files stored on the computer
(depending on the type of media stored on the computer).
1.
Use the main unit's INPUT button to set the unit to U1 input.
2.
Turn on power to the computer.
3.
Use a USB cable to connect the unit to the computer; the proper driver will automatically be installed.
Note
 U1 supports USB AudioClass 1.0.
 Supported sampling rates include 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, and 96 kHz.
 Supports USB 2.0 High-speed.
 Functionality has been confirmed with Windows 8 (64 bit), Widows 7, Windows Vista (32 bit), Mac OS 10.8, Mac OS 10.7,
Mac OS 10.6. Functionality has not been confirmed for other operating systems and versions.
 To play music with high sampling rates (96 kHz/24 bit, 88.2 kHz/24 bit, etc.), it may be necessary to adjust software settings
on your computer. For details, consult the specifications for the playback software used on your computer.

USB 2 (AudioClass 2.0)

 In addition to the USB default mode, the USB 2 (AudioClass 2.0 DoP) mode, supporting DoP format with 176.4 kHz, 192
kHz, 352.8 kHz, 384 kHz, and DSD signal transmission may be used.
 When using a Windows terminal device, PCM data is transmitted up to 192 kHz sampling, and DSD data up to 2.8 MHz
sampling (as of October, 2013).
Note
 Functionality has been confirmed with Windows 8 (64 bit), Widows 7, Windows Vista (32 bit), Mac OS 10.8, Mac OS 10.7,
Mac OS 10.6.
 When using a Mac computer, set the unit's input to U2, then use a USB cable to connect the unit to a computer; the
proper driver will then be automatically installed.

When using a Windows terminal device, consult the TAD website (http://tad-labs.com) and download the proper driver.
Consult the TAD website for driver installation instructions.
• Manual driver installation is unnecessary for Mac users. The driver will be installed automatically when the unit is
connected to a computer via USB cable.
• To make use of internet connections, users must conclude a contract with an internet service provider and pay
whatever fees are required.
With the unit in standby mode, simultaneously press the main unit's INPUT button and  power button.

The USB input display will change from [ U1 ] to [ U2 ].
3.
Turn on power to the computer.
4.
With the unit connected to the computer via USB cable, change the unit's input to U2.
5.
To cancel the current mode, switch the unit to standby mode, then press the  power button while holding the main
unit's INPUT button depressed.
The current mode can also be canceled by using ALL RESET.
CAUTION
 If a Windows terminal device is used without the unit driver installed, or if a Mac OS version (10.5, etc.) is used without
support for the USB 2 mode, do not set the unit for USB 2 mode and connect the unit to the computer, since the computer
may lock up.
Note
Digital output with USB input
 When the input is a DSD signal, the signal will be converted to PCM 88.2 kHz and output.
 When the input signal has a sampling rate of 384 kHz or 354.8 kHz, the signal will be output after being converted to 192
kHz and 176.4 kHz respectively.
 Signals with other sampling rates will be output at the same rates as input.
