2. Use the carafe to ll the water tank of the
co eemaker to the desired level with cold water.
There is a gauge marked from 4 to 12 cups
(600ml to 1800ml) on both the co eemaker's
water tank and on the sides of carafe (see Fig. 4).
These marks the show the amount of cold water
needed for each cup of co ee.The amount
brewed co ee will di er slightly of due to the
co ee grinds absorbing
some water.
3. Place either the permanent gold-tone lter or
a size #4 cone paper lter into the brew basket
(see Fig. 5).
4. Add ground co ee. The amount co ee you use
is a matter of personalof taste (we recommend
one heaping tablespoon for every two cups).
Experiment with di erent amounts of ground
co ee per cup until you brew your perfect cup of
co ee. You can also try using a paper lter along
with the gold-tone lter.
5. Close the cover. Place carafe on the warming
plate and plug in appliance. The display
windowthe illuminates green and the co ee-
maker beeps for about 1 second if the clock is not
set. The clock does not have to be set to brew
co ee. To set the clock time, see SETTING THE
CLOCK, TIMER AND AUTO-BREWING.
6. Turn on the co eemaker by pushing in the START /STOP button. The START /STOP indicator will
illuminate to show that the co eemaker is brewing. After a few seconds, hot water ows into the
lter to brew co ee. When the water stops owing, brewing is complete, and the co eemaker
automatically switches to the warming mode. For delayed brewing, see SETTING THE CLOCK,
TIMER AND AUTO-BREWING.
7. When you have poured out all the co ee in the carafe, press the START /STOP button to tum o
the appliance, and remove the carafe from the warming plate. NOTE: If the co eemaker is not
turned o , it will automatically shut itself o after two hours.
PAUSE AND POUR FEATURE
The pause and pour feature enables you to remove the carafe from the Co eemaker and pour a
cup of co ee before brewing is nished. When the carafe is removed, a special valve stops the
ow of co ee from the brew basket to the carafe. Brewing does not stop. IMPORTANT: If the carafe
is not replaced under the brew basket after 20 seconds, water and co ee will over ow from the
brew basket.

SETTING THE CLOCK, TIMER AND AUTO-BREWING
Use the Hour and Min Buttons to Set the Clock:
1. When the co eemaker is rst plugged in, the clock will ash the default time of 12:00 AM.
2. Press the Hour button to change the setting to any hour number between 12:00 am to 11:00
pm.
3. Press the Min button to change the setting to any minute number between 1 and 59
4. You can make the hours and minutes move more quickly in the clock display by holding the
buttons down.
5. The clock will begin keeping time at the moment the Hour and Min buttons are released.
Use the Prog, Hour and Min Buttons to Program an Automatic Brew Time:
1. First set the clock. See directions above.
2. Press the Prog button; the indicator will illuminate.
3. Set the time you wish the co eemaker to begin brewing by pressing the "Hour'' and "Min"
buttons. Be sure to set the correct designation of AM or PM.
4. Once you have set the correct time to begin the automatic brewing and the clock has returned
to the time of day, press the Auto On button.
5. The Auto Brew can be cancelled at any time by pressing the Auto On button a second time. The
Auto On light goes out. To check what time the Auto Brew is set for, push in the Set Auto button
and the time will be displayed.

1-4 CUP BUTTON
This special cycle optimizes the avor when brewing l to 4 cups of co ee, but it can also be used
to increase the brew strength of any number of cups you are brewing. Push the START /STOP
button to start the appliance, and then push the 1-4 CUP button once and both the START/STOP
and 1-4 CUP indicators will illuminate, showing that the strong brewing option is activated.
NOTE: The 1-4 Cup button must be pushed after the START /STOP button is pressed. If not, the
function of the 1-4 Cup will not be activated. The co eemaker will shut itself o after 2 hours and
signal shuto with 5 long beeps.
