1. Introduction

Important environmental information about this product
This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device after its lifecycle could harm the
environment. Do not dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it should be taken to a
specialized company for recycling. This device should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling service.
Respect the local environmental rules.
If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.
Thank you for choosing Velleman! Please read the manual thoroughly before bringing this device into service. If the device was
damaged in transit, do not install or use it and contact your dealer.

2. General Guidelines

• Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the dealer will not
accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.
• Keep this device away from rain, moisture, direct sunlight and extreme heat.
• Use this badge with ambient temperatures between 0°C ~ 40°.
• Do not use the device immediately after it has been exposed to changes in temperature. Protect the device against
damage by leaving it switched off until it has reached room temperature.
• Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when installing or operating the device.
• Clean this badge using a soft and lightly damp cloth. Avoid using solvents or aggressive detergents.
• Use the original packaging if the device is to be transported.
• Note that damage caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.
• There are no user-serviceable parts. Contact your dealer for spare parts if necessary.
• Keep the device away from children and unauthorised users.
• Only use the device for its intended purpose. All other uses may lead to short circuits, burns, electroshocks, crash, etc.
Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the warranty.
The badge will hold your jacket lapel or other garment by means of the magnet at the back. Loosen the plate by
gently sliding it away from the magnets from. Make sure not to pull the plate off the magnets to avoid damage.

3. Preparation

• Charging the Battery
Connect the badge to your PC using the included USB cable. The charging indicator flashes while charging and will stop
when the battery is fully charged.
• Installing the Software
Place the included CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive and run setup.exe. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
4. Programming
• Programming a Message
Make sure the battery level is sufficient. Charge the badge if necessary. When fully charged, connect the badge to the PC
using the included USB cable. Double click the badge icon on your PC desktop. Type your message in the message window.
Select a font, a scrolling speed, a scrolling mode and display luminance (see below). Finally click [Send] button to load the
message onto the badge.
