7.3 Functional description
The domestic hot water heat pump is used for heating domestic
hot water. To do this, the heat pump uses the heat stored in the
ambient air and / or outside air. The essential difference between
the two devices is the range of air temperatures at which they
can be operated
BWP 30HS : +8 °C to 45 °C
BWP 30HSD: -8 °C to 45 °C. The BWP 30HSD
carries out the defrosting process for the evaporator in the device
independently.
ATTENTION!
The use of outside air as a heat source is expressly recommended only
outside of the heating period or in regions which have a mild climate
(above 0 °C) all year round.
7.3.1 Time programs
Shut-off times
It is possible to block the operation of the domestic water heat
pump by setting shut-off times. Two independent shut-off times
can be programmed. The individual shut-off times are activated
as soon as the hour or minute value is not equal to zero. During
the shut-off times, the cylinder is kept at a minimum temperature
in order to avoid loss of comfort. The ventilation, solar thermal
and rapid heating functions, and the function for using electricity
from photovoltaic systems are possible during shut-off times.
Thermal disinfection
The start time for thermal disinfection and the desired setpoint
must be set. The function is activated as soon as the hour or
minute value is not equal to zero.
Both the heat pump and the flange heater are switched on from
the start to achieve the set temperature. This ensures that the re-
quired setpoint can be reached as quickly as possible.
NOTE
If the set temperature is not reached within 4 hours, the thermal
disinfection is terminated. The set start time can be activated every
weekday. Thermal disinfection should not be started after 8pm to ensure
that the four hours required are available.
7.3.2 Flange heater
The integrated flange heater can be used to supplement heat
pump operation. The flange heater is automatically switched on
if the domestic hot water set temperature is not reached within 8
hours in heat pump operation (BWP 30HSD version only). The
flange heater is always requested if the heat pump's operating
limits are exceeded and no 2nd heat generator is available. This
is the case when the air intake temperature is undershot/ex-
ceeded. Using the "Rapid heating" key, it is possible to select
whether the flange heater should be active within a set period of
time or whether it should be permanently active. If the air intake
temperature is above 8 °C, the flange heater is blocked. It can
only be switched on manually above the 8 °C limit for the rapid
heating function.

7.3.3 Ventilation
The ventilation function can be activated. It is used when there is
no domestic hot water request and the heat pump is waiting. In
this case, the heat pump's fan continues to run according to the
setpoint. This should ensure a minimum quantity of exhaust air
independent of heat pump operation, e.g. in the case of commer-
cial waste heat recovery.
The active function is shown in the display with the symbol
the bottom line.

7.3.4 2nd heat generator
An existing heat generator can be used to heat the cylinder using
the integrated tube heat exchanger (1.45 m²). The use of a 2nd
heat generator must be activated in the menu. It is requested if
the heat pump's operating limits are exceeded. This is the case
when the bottom or top air intake limit or the domestic hot water
setpoint lies above the achievable temperature during heat pump
operation (e.g. thermal disinfection). . In this case, the 2nd heat
generator has priority over the flange heater in the heat pump.
When the 2nd heat generator is activated, it is additionally possi-
ble to select a bivalence temperature which deviates from the
lower operating limit (air temperature). If this temperature is un-
dershot, heat pump operation is blocked as soon as the set tem-
perature is reached, and the 2nd heat generator is then used.
A circulating pump is required for charging the cylinder via the
additional heat exchanger, which should be operated where nec-
essary. There are two possible solutions for this:
Activating a circulating pump for using the heat
exchanger through existing domestic hot water
heat pump regulation
This version is recommended if a constant heat source is
present, e.g. wood heating buffer tank when using the 2nd heat
generator.
The circulating pump is connected at terminals X1/M3-L and X1/
