2.2.2 Absorption
In the absorption tab, the measurements aim at determining the absorption – or optical
density – of a solution or a filter for all wavelengths.
One of the important uses is to determine the wavelength for which the absorption of a
solution is at its maximum.
The first step consists in calibrating the device. For this, it is recommended to keep the
integration time automatic adjustment.
Place your vessel filled with solvent to measure the reference spectrum. Make sure
that no filter is placed in the vessel carrier.
Note: the device also measures the black to avoid saving the optical sound that could
disturb the measurement.
Insert a vessel or a filter to be studied.
Observe, in real time, the absorption and transmittance spectra for all wavelengths. In order
to freeze the curve, enter a solution name (or filter) and click « keep ».
Note: the last part of this tab has a color wheel which aims at determining the solution
(filter) color depending on the wavelength (color) observed.
