8 Getting started
8.1 Installing batteries
1. Switch the multimeter off by rotating the dial to the position OFF.
2. Disconnect the test leads from the multimeter.
3. Remove the screw from the battery compartment at the rear with a suitable
screwdriver.
4. Remove the battery compartment cover.
5. Insert 2x AAA-size batteries into the compartment. Observe the correct polarity.
6. Attach the battery compartment cover and tighten the screw. WARNING! The
open battery compartment can expose voltage-carrying components.
Danger to life from electric shock! Always attach the cover before operat-
ing.

8.2 Disabling/enabling auto-off
If the automatic shutdown feature (auto-off) is enabled, the multimeter switches off
automatically after 15 min. of inactivity. Auto-off is enabled every time you switch
the multimeter on. Disable "auto-off" if you want to keep the multimeter switched
on until you switch it off manually.
To disable auto-off:
1. Check that the display shows the auto-off symbol .
2. Switch the multimeter off by rotating the dial to the position OFF.
3. To disable auto-off, press and hold the button MODE and then rotate the dial to
any position to switch the multimeter on.
