buttons underneath the LCD screen, which are used for the live view mode of the device, have
similar functionality for the speech mode. The device also contains a full touchscreen.
The buttons each have their own function to control the reading features.
1. Menu: open or close the menu.
2. Reading speed: tap the left side to decrease the reading speed or the right side to increase
the speed.
3. Volume: tap the left side to decrease the volume or the right side to increase the volume.
4. Read/pause: start or pause reading.
5. Previous/next word: tab the arrow left to go to the previous word or right to go to the next
word. After tapping this button, the reading pauses. Holding the button pressed for two
seconds skips to the previous or next paragraph.
6. Previous/next sentence: tap the arrow up to go to the previous sentence or down to go
to the next sentence. Holding the button pressed for two seconds skips to the document's
beginning or end. Or in case a document has multiple pages, to the previous or next page.
7. Stop: Stop reading this document and go back to the Start screen to capture another
document.
8. Contrast button (B1): The contrast button changes the text/background colours to create
maximum contrast as possible. Tap this button to step through the different colour scenes.
Or swipe over this icon from left to right or right to left to go to the next or previous colour
scene. Press the button for two seconds to switch between image or digital view.
9. Zoom button (B2): Zoom in or out to enlarge the image or the text size in digital text.
Pressing on the magnifier glass at the centre will set the magnification to make the complete
image visible. Or in the case of digital text, it will reset the text size to the preferred size. The
preferred text size can be set in the settings. See section: Settings.
10. Word marker (B3): The word marker indicates the word currently being spoken. Press this
button for two seconds to turn the word marker on or off. The colour of the word marker can
be changed in the Settings.
The device contains a full touchscreen, allowing you to press on the corresponding word to start
reading from there.
Pressing anywhere on the touchscreen will always pause reading. When paused, it is possible
to scroll the text if there is more text than fits on the screen. Hold your finger on the screen and
slide it in your desired direction.
Interface presets
Three options are available to make the user interface work best with your usage. This is
configurable in the menu as preset. Preset 1 is active as default, this is described as above.
Preset 2: auto-hide interface
In preset 2, all the functionalities are the same as in preset 1. However, the button interface bar
limits the screen size for displaying the text. Therefore, in preset 2, the button interface bar will
automatically disappear after 5 seconds. This allows you to make optimal use of the screen size.
Press the lower left corner to let the interface bar reappear.
Preset 3: simplified interface
Preset 3 is a simplified interface where only the basic features are available. Here, the device is
as simple as possible and minimises the user's burden with more elaborate functions.
Only the volume buttons, play/pause and
the stop button are available in the button
bar. The three touch buttons underneath the
