Maintenance and repair
WARNING
Read each step of instructions carefully
Make sure proper understanding is
achieved before proceeding
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury
WARNING
Do not use halogenated hydrocarbon
solvents such as methylene chloride or
1, 1, 1-trichloroethane in this pump
An explosion can result with aluminium
and/or zinc-plated parts in pump come
in contact with halogenated hydrocarbon
solvents
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury
WARNING
Release all pressure within system prior
to performing any overhaul procedure
• Disconnect air supply line from pump
motor
• Into an appropriate container, operate
control valve to discharge remaining
pressure within system
Failure to comply may lead to personal
injury
WARNING
Do not point a control valve at any
portion of body or another person
Accidental discharge of pressure and/or
material can occur
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury
Overhaul
NOTE
Refer to Fig. IPB 1, page 14 for
component identification for all overhaul
procedures
Disassembly
Separate pump tube
from air motor
1 Clamp body (10) horizontally in a
soft-jaw vise
2 Loosen jam nut (12) that secures pump
tube to body
NOTE
Support pump tube during removal
Damage to components can occur
3 Unscrew cylinder (13) from body (10)
4 Remove cylinder (13) (with attached
components)
5 Pull on rod and stop (5) to expose end of
air motor's (1) piston as required
6 Remove cotter pin (4) that secures air
motor's (1) piston to rod and stop (5)
7 Unscrew rod and stop (5) from air
motor's (1) piston
8 Unscrew and remove air motor (1) from
body

as required
Clean and inspect
1 Clean all metal parts in environmentally
safe cleaning solvent
2 Inspect all parts for wear and/or damage
Replace as necessary
3 Inspect plunger (15) for wear Replace as
necessary
4 Inspect bore of cylinder (13) for any score
marks Replace as necessary
5 Inspect mating surface of all check valve
components for imperfections Ensure a
smooth and clean contact is obtained
when assembled
Example: Place ball (18) into foot valve
body (19) Fill foot valve body with
solvent Make sure no leakage occurs
