For connections that are not sealed with gaskets, O-rings or conical seals must
be sealed as follows:
Compressed air
Thread tape or liquid thread sealant, according
to maker's recommendations.
When selecting pipe diameter, consider the number of bends, branches, and
connections, and the viscosity and temperature. For more information and help
to calculate pipe sizes for specific installations, contact Nederman.
4.3
Pumps
Avoid installing wall-mounted pumps on sheet-metal walls or similar surfaces
that may give rise to resonance and vibrations.
In the case of stationary pumps, a hose with shut-off valve should always be
installed between the pump and the pipe system. This applies to both the air
and the medium being pumped.
Wall-mounted pumps should not be installed more than 2 metres above the
bottom of the drum or tank. If the suction head exceeds 2 metres, please contact
Nederman.
If the compressed air contains moisture, a water-separator should be installed
ahead of the pump.
These pumps do not require oil-mist lubricators, but if one is already installed,
it will improve pump life so do not remove it. Oil-mist lubricators are
recommended under severe operating conditions.
4.3.1
Remove all protective plugs.
Remove the drum bung fitting by turning the upper knurled part counter-
clockwise. The drum bung fitting can then be screwed into the drum.
The suction pipe should be threaded into the drum bung fitting in such a way
that there is a space of a few centimetres between the bottom of the drum and
the lower end of the pipe. Lock the suction pipe to the drum by turning the
knurled part clockwise.
Remove the vent plug from the drum and cover the hole with a rag or similar so
as to prevent dirt from entering and contaminating the medium.
4.4
Prepare pump for use
4.4.1
Grease pump
See figure 2.
1.
Remove all protective fitting covers.
Shape the grease to a cone in the barrel, see figure 2(2).
2.
3.
Turn the follower plate upsidedown and fill the conical part with grease,
see figure 2(3).
4.
Turn the follower plate right again and press it down into the grease as
shown, see figure 2(4).
Grease and Oil Pumps
Oil/grease
Liquid thread sealant, according to maker's
recommendations. Never use flax fibre for
sealing oil and grease pipes. Pieces may break
off and contaminate the grease.
