CAUTION:
•
The spider has a left-handed thread.
•
Since a high torque is required to loosen the
spider, make sure that the spider, fixed sheave
and special tool are well secured. Loosen the
spider carefully to prevent cracks and damage
to the sheaves and spider.
•
Remove the fixed sheave, fixed sheave stop-
per, and sliding sheave from the spider.
INSPECTION
1. Inspect:
•
Spider 1
•
Sliding sheave 2
•
Fixed sheave 3
•
Primary sheave cap 4
Cracks/damage → Replace.
2. Inspect:
•
Primary sheave spring 1
Cracks/damage → Replace.
3. Measure:
•
Primary sheave spring free length a
Out of specification → Replace the primary
sheave spring.
Primary sheave spring free length a:
91.4 mm (3.6 in)
NOTE:
When changing the primary sheave springs, refer
to "GEAR SELECTION" in CHAPTER 2.
4. Inspect:
•
Primary sheave cap bush 1
•
Sliding sheave bush 2
Cracks/damage → Replace.
