Foot: General purpose or blindstich hem guide (Blindstitch
hemguide-availableatSewingCenters).
Preparethehembyfoldingitandpressingitintheusualway.
Youmaywanttobastethehemtoholditinplace,asshown.If
so,besuretoplacethebastingatleast12mmbelowthetop
edge of the hem allowance. With the wrong side of fabric
uppermost,turnthehem under,asshown,creatingasoftfold
from the top edge of hem. Pin or baste all three layers
togetherinplace.
Position the hem under the presser foot with the soft fold
restingagainstwalloftheguide,asshown.
• Lower the presser foot and begin sewingmakingcertain
thestraightstitchesfallontheedgeofthehemandthe
zig-zagstitchesjust pierce the soft fold of the work.
Adjuststitchwidthifnecessary.Whilestitching,guidethe
hemedgeinastraightlineandfeedthesoftfoldevenly
againstthewalloftheguide.
• Iflayersoffabricarepinnedtogether,removepinsasyou
cometothem.Donotsewoverpins.

Withfabricrightsideupplacethefabricunderthepresser
footsothatthezigzagpartofthestitchjustfallsoffthe
foldededgepullingthefabricslightly.
