A bench grinder is a motor allowing various accessories to be driven
in rotation (grinding-wheels, brushes, bands, polishing wheels etc..). It
is possible to grind, sharpen or deburr by using grinding-wheels of dif-
ferent grain (grain 40 for sharpening and grain 120 for final grinding).
Some bench grinders are mixed, combining several functions and may
be equipped with accessories for scouring, polishing, sanding. etc.
Some models are fitted with a water-cooled grinding-wheel to avoid changing the
steel quality of the tool. These grinding-wheels are mainly for sharpening and grin-
ding cutting tools.
There are various types of grinding-wheels (white corundum, grey corundum, silicon
carbide, etc.) to adapt to the hardness of the materials to be worked.
Large diameter grinding wheels reduce convex grinding.
The lighting function, if your machine has one, makes it more comfortable to work
with in dark environments.
A powerful motor guarantees intensive use.
Some models equipped with a water trough allow the tool to be cooled during grin-
ding in this way preserving steel quality.
The grinding wheel dresser is an accessory allowing the grinding-wheel surface to be
dressed and repaired.
Tool holders enable positioning of the part to be sharpened. Some are dimensioned for
grinding bits.
