3. Mounting Plate Installation. (cont.)
Remove existing fan or fixture.
WARNING: When using an existing outlet box be
sure the box is securely attached to the building
structure and can support the full weight of the
fan and the accessory. Ensure it is clearly marked
"Suitable for Fan Support." If not, it must be
replaced with an approved outlet box. Failure
to do so can result in serious injury.
CAUTION: Be sure outlet box is grounded
properly and that a ground wire (GREEN or
bare) is present.
Install mounting plate (provided with
accessory) to outlet box using original screws,
spring washers and flat washers provided with
new or original outlet box.*
WARNING: It is imperative that you use the
mounting plate provided with this slope mount
adapter as the screw holes in the canopy
assembly are aligned to fit with the screw holes
in the mounting plate provided. [Be sure to
keep the hanging bracket that came with your
fan should your needs change in the future.]
Pull electrical wiring from outlet box through
center hole in the mounting plate.
Locate screw on outer edge of mounting
plate closest to the j-hook, as well as the screw
directly opposite it, and remove these 2
screws--save for later use. Partially loosen the
other 2 screws.
*NOTE: It is very important that you use the
proper hardware when installing the mounting
plate as this will support the fan.

Continue to instructions in the installation
manual for your fan. However, when the
instructions call for the canopy, remember
to substitute the canopy assembly provided
with this slope mount adapter in its place as
the holes are properly aligned for the mounting
plate provided.
