and windows. Inspect area before starting the appliance to remove debris and other objects that can
cause damage during operation.

2 - ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: The only assembly required for your trimmer is to install the debris shield and adjust the assist handle.
2-1. DEBRIS SHIELD INSTALLATION
1. Position the motor housing with string head carrier facing up (Figure 2-1).
2. Slide debris shield over motor housing as shown (Figure 2-1).
3. Align edging guide with mating grooves and push firmly in the direction shown until an audible snap is heard
(Figure 2-2).
NOTE: Be certain that edging guide is oriented as shown. Once edging guide, motor housing and debris shield are
mated the connection is permanent and cannot be removed without a special tool.
2-2. REX DISPOSABLE CUTTING HEAD INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL
INSTALLATION
1. Unplug unit.
2. Position the motor housing with the string head carrier facing up (Figure 2-3).
3. Align disposable string head locking tabs with corresponding slots in carrier as shown (Figure 2-4).
4. With firm pressure push disposable string head onto carrier until an audible click is heard.
REMOVAL
1. Unplug unit.
2. Press red button on top of motor housing to eject used REX disposable string head (Figure 2-5).
3 - ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS
3-1. ADJUSTABLE ASSIST HANDLE
1. Grip underside of assist handle. With thumb and forefinger on either side of the base of the assist handle as
shown (Figure 3-1).
2. While depressing red buttons, use other hand to move assist handle into desired location.
NOTE: The assist handle is ratcheted for variable operating positions. Adjust to a comfortable position.
3. Release red buttons.
3-2. ADJUST SHAFT LENGTH
1. Grip shaft firmly.
2. Push red shaft release button forward and move handle forward or backward to desired length (Figure 3-2).
NOTE: Shaft may be adjusted in trimming or edging mode.
3-3. EDGING CONVERSION
1. Grip shaft firmly.
2. Push red button (A) forward, and rotate handle assembly until an audible click is heard (Figure 3-3).

4-1. CONNECT THE CORD
1. Ensure the cord is NOT plugged into a receptacle before this procedure.
2. Make a loop with 8" - 10" (20 - 25cm) of the end of the extension cord.
