HOW TO USE YOUR SLOW COOKER
• The ceramic cook pot should be at least half full for optimal results.
• Most meat and vegetable recipes require 8-10 hours on LOW or 4-6 on
HIGH.
• Vegetables usually take longer to cook than meat. Cut vegetables into
small, even pieces and arrange in the lower half of the ceramic cook pot.
• Slow cooking retains moisture. If you wish to reduce the moisture con-
tent in the cooker, remove the lid and turn the control knob to high (if set
at LOW or WARM) and simmer for an additional 30-40 minutes.
• All food should be covered with a sauce, gravy or liquid. In a seperate
pan or dish, prepare your sauce, gravy or liquid and completely cover the
food in the ceramic cook pot.
• The glass lid is not a sealed fit. Removing the glass lid allows the built
up heat to escape. Each time the lid is removed, an additional 10 minutes
should be added to the cooking time.
• If cooking soups, leave a small amount of space between the ceramic
cook pot and the food surface to allow for simmering. Do not overfill.
• Many causes can affect how quickly a recipe will cook, always consider
the intial temperature of the food, size of food and water/fat content when
slow cooking.
• Save time by preparing recipe ingredients the night before. Store the
prepared food in a covered container in the refrigerator. Transfer the
food to the ceramic cook pot and add gravy or liquid. Program cooker to
desired setting.
• Once food is cooked, switch the cooker off and leave covered with the
glass lid. There will be sufficent heat in the cook pot to keep the food
warm for 30 minutes. If more time is required to keep the food warm, turn
cooker to LOW setting.
• Never leave uncooked food at room temperature in the slow cooker.
• Do not use the cooker to reheat food.
