CONFORMITY WITH EN 358:1999
STANDARD :
A work positioning belt is intended for
work at height on posts or other such
structures. Used with a positioning
lanyard, one can position oneself and
have ones hands free to undertake the
task in hand. The positioning lanyard
(in conformity with EN 358:1999) must
be used with a belt harness or a work
positioning belt. It must not be used
to stop falls. It may be necessary to
complete work positioning systems
and must be kept with fall protection
devices of a collective or individual
type (fall arrest systems in conformity
with EN 363.)
COMPlIANT WITH STANDARD EN
813:2008
A thigh harness comprises one or
more ventral retainer belts to hold the
operator in place at their workstation.
USE
Attach the belt around the waist
and adjust it.
Close the thigh harness belts and
adjust them
Connect the working line to atta-
ching element whether directly
or to a central point linked to the
two attaching elements
Connect the end of the positio-
ning lanyard to one of the 2 'D'
rings (the adjustable part can be
connected to either the right or
left side 'D' ring).
Pass the restraint lanyard behind
the structure (post, trunk, etc.)
and attach the second extremity
on the other 'D' ring.
Before climbing, test the work
positioning system.
Check that the geometry of the
structure allows the use of a work
positioning system (it must not
be used with structures of small
diameters and with sharp edges.)
Adjust the lanyard so as to work
comfortably with both hands free.
In the work position, the adjust-
ment of the positioning lanyard
must not allow a free fall of a
distance greater than 0.5m.
Make sure the work positioning
lanyard is always taut.
A belt equipped with a support
pad must be used when the work
position must be maintained for
a long time.
During use check the adjust-
ment and/or attachment parts
regularly.
VERIFICATION
Before using for the first time, the user
should test the suspension function in
a safe place to ensure that the thigh
harness is the correct size, is correctly
adjusted and provides an acceptable
degree of comfort for the use envi-
saged.
Before each use, a thorough visual
inspection should be made in order
to verify the PPE's integrity, as well as
the integrity of any other equipment
that may be used with it (connector,
lanyard...). The necessary precautions
must be taken for making a rescue in
complete safety. In case of a problem
with the product, contact the manu-
facturer or his representative. If you
have doubts about the safety of the
product or if the product has been
used to stop a fall, it is essential for
your safety that the PPE be withdrawn
from use and returned to the manu-
facturer or to a qualified repair centre
for verification or destruction. Never
try to modify or repair a PPE yourself.
Only the manufacturer or the repair
centre is qualified to make repairs. Af-
ter inspection, the centre will provide
written authorization if the PPE may
be reused.
