1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Please observe the following instructions to achieve the best pump
performance possible and a trouble free installation.
The Vigila 100M series are single stage pumps for drainage appli-
cations. The motor, enclosed inside the pump casing is cooled by
the discharge water.
These pumps have been designed for irrigation or decanting of clear
or slightly dirty water from a well, water tank or swimming pool at a
maximum temperature of 35 degrees Centigrade. (Max. particle
diameter in suspension = 5 mm.)
All electrical connections and switchgear must be installed in a dry
and weatherproof environment.
WARNING: correct pump operation is assured by following
the instructions on installation and use.
DANGER: failure to adhere to the instructions can result in
premature failure of the pump and voiding of the warranty.
DANGER. risk of electric shock. The pump must not be used
in a pool when people are swimming.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1 - Fixing
The pump must sit on the base of the tank or on an elevated
platform (ie. a brick) if mud or sludge is present [fig. 1]. When posi-
tioning the pump it must remain at no more than a 20 degree incline
from the vertical.
Never suspend pump by its electric cable or by the discharge pipe.
On the automatic version, to vary the required water levels, it is pos-
sible to adjust the height of the floating level switch in relation to the
pump by pulling the cable through its securing clamp. Free movement
must be guaranteed for correct operation of the float switch [fig. 2].
The maximum immersion head is 4 meters.
2.2 - Assembly of discharge pipes
The pumps are designed for connection to a 1" pipe. A union is
supplied to adapt to 25 mm. pipe.
The pump must not be required to support the weight of connecting
pipework.
The use of a check valve is recommended to prevent the pipe
emptying.

2.3 - Electrical connection

DANGER, risk of electric shock. Electrical installation must be
arranged with an effective earth connection and comply with
the prevailing national regulations.
Electrical connection will be made by connecting the sup-
ply plug to a current outlet with corresponding earth con-
tacts.
System protection will comprise of a high sensitivity differen-
tial switch (I n = 30 mA).
The motor is fitted with a thermal cut-out protecting the pump
if overloading occurs.

2.4 - Pre-start checks

WARNING: ensure that the voltage and frequency of the
supply correspond to the values indicated on the features
label.
Ensure that the pump is completely submerged.
THE PUMP MUST NEVER BE DRY RUN.
3. OPERATION
Ensure all valves in the pipework are open.
Connect power supply. If the floating level switch is in the upper
position the pump will start. There will be a delay before water
appears at the end of the discharge pipe.
If the pump fails to operate refer to the possible faults, causes and
solutions list for assistance.
4. MAINTENANCE
For correct maintenance, please follow these instructions:
DANGER, risk of electric shock. Disconnect the pump from
the power supply before handling.
Under normal conditions, these pumps are maintenance
free.
If the pump is not to be operated for a long period of time, it
is recommended that it is removed from the water, cleaned
and kept in a dry, well ventilated environment.
When it is necessary to clean the suction filter and impeller,
the procedure is as follows [see fig. 3]:
– Unscrew the lower cover (1) of the pump following the
direction indicated.
– The impeller cover (2) is fitted under pressure. Remove
carefully so as not to damage the O'ring (3).
– Clean the filter, impeller and discharge outlet with running
water.
– Check the free movement of the impeller.
– Re-assemble all components lubricating the O'ring with
soapy water to make locating easier.
– Refit lower cover screwing opposite to the direction indicat-
ed on the cover.
ATTENTION: In the event of faults or damage occurring to
the pump or its power supply cable, repairs should only be
carried out by an authorised service agent.
When the pump is eventually disposed, please note that it
contains no toxic or polluting material. Main components are
identified to allow selective disposal.
