The litre capacity (A) of the cartridge varies according to the
water hardness set (B) and the size of the cartridge, see table.
Note: The various filter cartridges can be ordered at
www.shop.grohe.com.
Adjust bypass of filterhead (C) according to local
carbonate hardness (B), see Fig. [21], table and
documentation of the filter.
The relevant water supplier can provide information on the
carbonate hardness.
Display and setting of carbonate hardness on cooler/
carbonator, see Fig. [19] and table column (D).

Maintenance
Resetting filter capacity after changing filter cartridge, see
fold-out page II, Fig. [19].
 button for filter replacement reset:
• Press and hold  button until rF flashes in the display.
• Release the  button and press again until rF stops
flashing.
• Release the  button.
The remaining filter capacity is reset and then displayed
again.
Restore factory settings, see Fig. [19].
Reset   buttons to factory settings:
• Press and hold the   buttons simultaneously until PA
starts flashing in the display.
• Release the   buttons.
The remaining filter capacity is displayed.
Important:
Risk of damage!
Always disconnect the power supply and interrupt
the CO
supply before carrying out maintenance work

on the system. The plug-in connector can then be
disconnected, see fold-out page I, Figs. [12] and [13].
Inspect and clean all components and replace if necessary.
Assemble in reverse order.

• Press and hold the  button until the setted value stops
flashing
• Release the  button.
The remaining filter capacity is displayed.
When carbonat hardness ≤ 10° the use of activated carbon
filter (Order no.: 40 547 001) is recommended.
The cooler/carbonator is set for operation with the 600 litre
filter cartridge (Prod no.: 40 404 001) at the factory.
For operation with other filter cartridges the cooler/carbonator
must be set out.
The fitting with cooler/carbonator is now fully installed and
ready for operation.

Environment and recycling

For reasons of hygiene, it is not possible to recycle used filter
cartridges.
Used filter cartridges can be disposed of hazard-free as
residual waste.
You can purchase a refill set for the attached CO
our online shop at www.shop.grohe.com.
The cooler/carbonator is an electrical device, to which return
and take-back obligations apply in many countries. GROHE
participates in such take-back systems in all relevant
countries.

Cleaning cooler/carbonator
For hygienic and healthy reasons, the cooler/carbonator
must be cleaned once a year. Cleaning must be
performed before changing the filter cartridge, in order to
prevent contamination of the replacement filter cartridge.
This category of device does not belong in
the domestic waste, but must be disposed of
separately in accordance with the relevant
local national regulations.
