Using the device

Warning! Check that all parts are
firmly attached and obviously un-
damaged.
Warning! Hold the pole hedge trim-
mer firmly with both hands! Ensure
that the cutting bar does not touch any ob-
jects or the ground and that there are no
people or animals in the vicinity before
starting! Risk of injury!
Before each use
• Check that all parts of the garden tool are
present, firmly attached and undamaged.
• Ensure that you wear the adequate personal
protective equipment.
• Look over the working area and remove any
obstructions.
• Remove all foreign objects from the hedge,
such as wire or other parts, as these may
block or damage the cutting mechanism.
• Cut out thick branches beforehand using
pruning shears.
Correct posture
Warning!
- Never work on unstable ground!
- Never work while standing on a ladder!
- Do not bend too far forwards when
working!
- Use the garden tool only when the
weather conditions and terrain are
favourable!
• Stand with both legs firmly on the ground.
• Beware of obstructions in the working area.
• Wear the harness for better weight distribu-
tion of the garden tool.
• When working, always hold the garden tool
with both hands!
• Hold the garden tool:
- with the left hand on the front handle 5.
- with the right hand on the main handle 10.

Using the device correctly
Warning! Maintain a minimum
clearance of 10 meters between the
bar nose and electric power lines. Electricity
can jump considerable distances by means
of arcing. Higher voltage increases the dis-
tance electricity can arc. Have the power
switched off before starting cutting work in
the immediate vicinity of power lines.
• Look over the working area and remove any
obstructions.
• Before starting work, check the safety of
the power tool (see "Before each use").
• Pick up the power tool in both hands as
specified.
• Switch the pole hedge trimmer on before
starting the cut.
• Always cut at full engine speed and apply a
uniform pressure to the unit, however not
excessive force.
• Never touch wire fences or the ground with
the running cutting mechanism.
• If cutting hedges over a prolonged period,
interrupt your work more frequently and oil
the cutter bar.
• Switch the engine off and remove the bat-
tery:
- to remove blockages (jammed clippings)
from the cutting bar;
- if you have come into contact with foreign
objects or the ground;
- when taking breaks and leaving the unit
unattended;
- if the unit behaviour changes or it vibrates
unusually. If the power tool is damaged or
vibrates unusually, it must be repaired by
a service centre before it is used again.
• Cut the upper edges of the hedge slightly
round.
• Cut in several stages if heavy trimming is
required.
• Cut the hedge in a trapezoidal shape. This
prevents the lower part of the hedge from
losing its foliage due to lack of light.

• Peg out a string line if you want to cut the
hedge evenly.
• Trim the young hedge plants to the required
shape. The main shoot should not be dam-
aged until the hedge has reached the re-
quired height. All other shoots can be cut
back to half their height.
• Dispose of the clippings properly and in an
environmentally friendly manner.
Cutting times:
- Deciduous hedges: June and October
- Evergreen hedges: April and August
- Fast growing hedges (e.g. conifers): from
May approx. every 6 weeks
Note: Beware of nesting birds in the hedge. Do
not cut the hedge until birds have fledged or
do not cut this part of the hedge.
After use
• Stop the engine.
• Wait until all rotating parts have come to a
standstill.
• Remove the battery 7.

• Leave power tool to cool down.
Caution! Always switch the motor
off before you put the power tool
down!
