Mercedes- Process

In addition to the Smartcard 1 987 009 AS3N it is necessary to
use one of the ROMESS-inclinometers (e.g. 1 987 009 A52N or
1 987 009 A63N).
The data, which are recorded by the inclinometer, can be impor-
ted into the software. For thisreason the ROMESS- output has to
be connected via a serial extension cable 1 987 009 AF2N with
a serial port (COM) of the PC. Further on the wall power supply
of the ROMESS has to be plugged into a power socket. Therefore
it is sensible to use the power socket inside the carriage.
As there is only a single serial port at the PC U13N, one of the
proffered add-on possibilities, like the USB-COM2 1 987 009
UE6N must be used. Installation and if necessary configuration
must be performed according to the installation instructions of
the PC. Afterwards the correct COM- Port has to be chosen.
Please note that there is only support for COM- Ports between
COM1 and COM4. The settings can be modified in 'Service
Programs' (password necessary) => 'After- Sales Service' =>
'Setup' => 'Config Hardware' => 'Romess'.
Romess inclinometer
Furthermore it can be sensible to choose the official databank as
a default setting. Modifications can be performed in 'Setup and
Maintenance' => 'Setup' => 'Databank' => 'Vehicle Description'
=> 'Manufacturer' .
By using this setting, the original Manufacturer- Prcoess is
accomplished during the wheel alignment automatically.
If you do not modify this setting, the selection for each alignment
has to be done manually.
It is also possible to select the original Mercedes- logo. Therefore
choose 'Setup and Maintenance' => 'Setup' => 'Customisation'
=> 'Logo' => 'D.C. Fahrwerkvermessung'.
Thereupon the writing 'Mercedes Benz Fahrwerkvermessung
2000', which is the Mercedes- band name, will appear on the start
screen.

Please choose also ''Setup and Maintenance' => 'Setup' => 'Job
Record' => 'Type' => 'Full' , in order to get a widespread job
record according to DaimlerChrysler-guidelines.
Furthermore chose also 'Setup and Maintenance' => 'Setup' =>
'Data Summary' => 'Type' => 'Static'.
Instead of the ordinary diagnostics screen -including live values-
a fixed data summary with results from the previous values will be
shown.
For the Mercedes- Process it is also required to proceed a lift level
check. Therefore you have to choose the following setting: 'Setup
and Maintenance' => 'Setup' => 'Alignment Procedure' => 'Lift
Test' => 'Yes'.
Using this setting, the lift test will take place at the beginning of
each wheel alignment process. This reference measurement is
shown in order to indicate the caster- camber values of the sensor
heads, which are mounted on both sides of the lift.
On the one hand this procedure checks the levelling of the lift, on
the other hand this checking also recognises a damage of one of
the sensor heads.
If you are using the wheel alignment system with cable sensors
(WA 900), there is a possibility to use an integrated lift- wiring.
This set 1 987 009 A27N consists both of four short spiral
connection cables for the sensor heads and of a wiring, which is
lead from the sockets at the sides of the carriage into the lift.
The four sockets must be positioned at the lift, directly below the
sensor heads.

In addition to the Smartcard 1 987 009 AS2N, which has to be
plugged in and upgraded as secondary smartcard, it is necessary
to use a device, which is equivalent to the VAG- special tool
1 987 009 A25N (special accessories).
