Putting on the full-face mask
NOTICE
The sealing line between head and full-face mask must be free
from hairs and foreign objects, as these can cause leaks. Wearers
of spectacles should use a spectacle kit.
1)
Fit spectacle kit if required
.
Open the head harness as far as it will go.
NOTICE
At extremely low temperatures the wearer should be holding his/her
breath briefly when putting on the mask. This will prevent the full-
face mask from steaming up.
Loosen full-face mask from the ready position.
Spread the harness and place
your chin in the chin trough.
Pull the head harness over
the head and pull backwards.
Adjust the full-face mask to fit.
Uniformly tighten the neck
harness, then the temple
harness and, finally, the front
strap.
Testing for leaks
NOTICE
When using pad-particle filters carry out the positive pressure test
only as the pad cap does not provide an airtight seal for the gas fil-
ter and/or the pad plate.
Negative pressure test
Seal off both respiratory filters
using your hands or a suitable
object (e.g., a fairly even
piece of cardboard) and
breathe in to achieve a
negative vacuum. Hold your
breath for a moment.
The negative pressure should
be maintained. If this is not the
case, tighten the straps.
Positive pressure test
Seal off the exhalation valve
of the full-face mask and
breathe out fully. The full-face
mask must not lift off the face.
If breathing air flows out via
the face seal, tighten the
harness.
Only enter the contaminated area if the full face mask is free from
leaks and the appropriate respiratory filters are fitted.
If the function of the mask is reduced by effects specific to the cont-
aminated area, leave the contaminated area immediately.

Extreme operating conditions

At low temperatures: Protect lens from the inside with anti-misting
2)
gel "klar-pilot"
.
At high temperatures: If the lens is damaged, leave the hazardous
environment immediately.
In areas prone to explosion: Treat full-face mask and respiratory
filter with anti-static spray.
1) Note the assembly instructions.
2) Follow the separate instructions for use of the product.

WARNING
After use
Remove both respiratory filters and discard
Remove the full face mask:
Place the index fingers behind
the shackles of the neck
straps, push the clamping
buckles forward with the
thumbs and at the same time
pull the full face mask away
from the face over the head.
Do not pull at the breathing
connection during this procedure.
Cleaning, Disinfection and Drying
Clean and disinfect the full-face mask after every use.
Do not use solvents (e.g. acetone, alcohol) or cleaning agents con-
taining abrasive particles for the cleaning and disinfecting. Strictly
follow the prescribed procedures. Only use the listed cleaning
agents and disinfectants. Other detergents, doses and exposure
times can cause damage to the product.
Undiluted agents are harmful when in direct contact with eyes or
skin. Therefore, use protective goggles and protective gloves when
working with these agents.

Leak tests
The full-face mask must be tested whenever it has been used and
after any maintenance or repair work.
Test equipment and accessories: Dräger Testor 2100,
2 x bayonet catches (AG 02 460), exhalation valve plug (R 53 349).
(1) Testing for leaks
Moisten face seal and exhalation valve with water.
Fit the full-face mask to the test head.
Make sure that the face seal is in full contact with the test head.
Inflate test head if required.
Seal connectors with bayonet plugs and generate 10 mbar negative
pressure.
The full-face mask is considered to be air-tight if the pressure does
not drop by more than 1 mbar/min. If the full-face mask is not air-
tight, proceed with step (2).
(2) Testing with sealed exhalation valve
Remove the exhalation valve disc.
Insert the test plug of the exhalation valve until it engages.
Generate a negative pressure of 10 mbar.
If the pressure drops by less than 1 mbar/min, remove exhalation
valve test plug and insert new valve disc.
Repeat the leak test (1). If the full-face mask is not air-tight, proceed
with step (3).
(3) Leak test under water
Immerse test head including full-face mask with exhalation valve
test plug into water.
Generate an excess pressure of approx. 10 mbar.
Rotate the test head slowly below the water surface. Escaping air
bubbles will indicate the source of the leak.
Remove the test head with full-face mask from the water, repair full-
face mask and replace leaking components.
Remove exhalation valve test plug and install exhalation valve.
Repeat the leak test (1).
After testing
Remove bayonet catches.
Remove full-face mask from the test head and dry if required.
Replace protective cap and ensure that it engages.
