Install the Protector System

Introduction
Be sure power is NOT connected to the door operator BEFORE installing the safety reversing sensor.
To prevent SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from closing door:
Correctly connect and align the safety reversing sensor. This required safety device MUST NOT be
l
disabled.
Install the safety reversing sensor so beam is NO HIGHER than 6" (15 cm) above floor.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE SAFETY REVERSING SENSORS
The safety reversing sensors must be connected and aligned correctly before the door will move in the
down direction.
The sending sensor (with an amber LED) transmits an invisible light beam to the receiving sensor (with a green LED).
If an obstruction breaks the light beam while the door is closing, the door will stop and reverse to the full open position.
When installing the safety reversing sensors check the following:
Sensors are installed inside the building, one on either side of the door.

Sensors are facing each other with the lenses aligned and the receiving sensor lens does not receive direct
l
sunlight.
Sensors are no more than 6 inches (15 cm) above the floor and the light beam is unobstructed. If
l
LC36M/LC36M41 Monitored Light Curtain is employed, the lowest sensor must be no more than 6 inches
(15cm) above the floor and all of the light beams of the Light Curtain must be unobstructed.
NOTE: If the LC36M/LC36M41 Monitored Light Curtain is used in place of Protector System Safety Reversing
Sensors, please use the Installation Instructions that are provided with the LC36M/LC36M41.
For LC36M/LC36M41, 100MAPS Power Supply is required. See LC36M/LC36M41 Installation Manual.
