CHIPPER IS JAMMED
DANGER! Never attempt to unblock the machine whilst the chipper is
running. The active chipper blades will cause a severe wound, amputation
or death. Shut off the chipper before attempting to remove a blockage.
1. If the drum stops while chipping, stop the engine immediately.
2. Unhinge either the feed hopper (#1) or discharge chute (#33) by
loosening the bolt on the bottom of chute and lifting it upward to allow
access to the drum. Remove wood or branches that are blocking the
drum. Reconnect the hopper or chute, then restart the engine. Listen for
any sounds that indicates there is still a blockage.
3. Some wood or branches cannot be easily removed by hand. On the drum
side of the chipper, remove the end cap (#24) with a flathead screwdriver
(Fig. 6). There is a
nut under the cap
that can be turned
(with the appropriate
socket) to rotate the
drum in reverse.
Remove the
blockage, then reseal
the nut and reset the
chute and hopper.
