Cable and conductor entries
For type SAeb/SAec explosionproof switchgear
assemblies, only those cable and conductor
entries and plugs that possess an EU type-
examination certificate (Category 2G) issued by
a European Notified Body as per European
Standards IEC 60079-0 and IEC 60079-7 may
be used.
Cable and conductor entries may only be fitted
in specially prepared holes that are closed off
with plugs.
The cable and conductor entries must be
installed so as to prevent self-loosening and
ensure permanent sealing of the cable and con-
ductor entry points.
The spacing between the cable glands is such
that a torque wrench can be used to secure the
gland bodies of the cable and conductor entries
in the enclosure wall and to tighten the seals
around the cables.
In the factory the cable and conductor entries are
fitted with CEAG type GHG 960 923 P... cable
glands. The dimensions, the clamping ranges for
cables and wires and the torques are shown in
the tables in Annex A (page 24) .
If other cable and conductor entries are in stalled,
the required torques and cable diameters will be
found in the appropriate manual.
Intrinsically safe circuits must enter and leave
the enclosure via separate cable entries that are
specially marked (for example with a light blue
color).
If any cable and conductor entries are not used
or are no longer needed, the tapped holes and
redundant gland bodies must be blanked off with
suitable blind plugs or caps.

Terminals
Generally, only terminals that possess an EU
type-examination certificate from a European
Notified Body as per European Standards IEC
60079-0 and IEC 60079-7 may be used.
