Face protection products conforming to EN166:2001
and EN1731:2006. This product is designed to protect
the wearer against impacts to the eye and face, both
from the front and the side. The selection of the
appropriate faceshield should be based on a risk
assessment of the exposure to hazards in the
workplace. Select the appropriate 3M™ faceshield
based on the performance features as marked on the
product. Please read these instructions in conjunction
with all information provided with this product and save
for continuing reference. See separate pictogram sheet
for instructions on fitting.
^ Particular attention should be given to warning
statements where indicated.
^ WARNING
Always be sure that the complete product is:
- Suitable for the application;
- Fitted correctly;
- Worn during all periods of exposure;
- Replaced when necessary.
• To reduce the risks associated with eye or face
hazards which, if not avoided, could result in serious
injury or death: - Inspect faceshields before each use; -
Check if apparatus is complete, undamaged and
correctly assembled. Any damaged or defective parts
must be replaced with original 3M spare parts before
use, including scratched shields. If in doubt, check with
the manufacturer.
• Eyewear may fog in certain environments; if fogging
occurs, stop task or operation. When safe to do so, exit
area and contact supervisor.
• Proper selection, training, use and appropriate
maintenance are essential in order for the product
to help protect the wearer.
• Never alter or modify the product.
• Failure to follow all instructions on the use of
these personal protection products and/or failure to
properly wear the complete product during all
periods of exposure may adversely affect the
wearer's health, lead to severe or life threatening
illness or permanent disability.
• For suitability and proper use follow local regulations,
refer to all information supplied or contact a safety
professional/3M representative.
• Eye and face protection against high speed particles
worn over standard opthalmic spectacles may transmit
impact energy, creating a hazard to the wearer.
• If the faceshield and the frame are not both marked
with the same symbol for any field of use, the lowest
level of protection applies to the complete face
protector.
• For faceshields to comply with field of use 9 both the
frame and the lens must be marked with this symbol
together with one of the symbols F, B or A.
• If protection against high speed particles at extremes
of temperature is required then the selected
eye-protector should be marked with the letter T
immediately after the impact letter, i.e. FT, BT or AT.
• If the impact letter is not followed by the letter T then
the eye protector shall only be used against high speed
particles at room temperature.
• Mesh oculars and visors marked S should not be used
when there is a foreseeable risk of any hard or sharp
flying particles.
• All mesh visors meet the requirements for Increased
Robustness (S) except for visor 5B which provides
higher impact protection (F). Differences in mesh
aperture allow for varying light reduction for specific
mesh visors whilst maintaining impact resistance. For
details see 3M™ Technical Datasheets.
• Materials which may come into contact with the
wearer's skin are not known to cause allergic reactions
to the majority of individuals.
