Back Removal Instructions
WARNING
– To reduce the risk of injury:
• The back of the unit must be lifted for assembly and disassembly. Please seek
assistance if you are unable to lift at least 45 pounds without strain.
• Do not operate the unit until the back is installed and locked.
1. Unplug the 120 volt power cord from the electrical outlet.
2. Disconnect the power supply from the chair. Locate the connection behind the chair, push
down the locking tab and pull the connectors apart (F
3. For a 1PL chair, proceed to step 4. For a 1PM style chair with massage and heat or a 1PH style
chair with adjustable headrest and lumbar features, disconnect the electrical connections
between the back and body.
Carefully rotate the unit forward onto a clean protective surface to rest on its front side.
•
• For a 1PM chair with massage and heat features:
- Disconnect the heat feature. Locate the connection with a red connector and a black
connector; the red 2-pin connector routes from the back and the black 2-pin connector
routes from the body. Push down the locking tab and pull out on the connectors to
disconnect the heat (F 2).

- Disconnect the massage feature. Locate the connection with two green connectors; one
green 6-pin connector routes from the back and the other from the body. Push down the
locking tab and pull out on the connectors to disconnect the massage (F
For a 1PH chair with adjustable headrest and lumbar features:
•
- Disconnect the adjustable headrest feature. Locate the connection with two blue connectors
on the left side (as sitting); one blue 6-pin connector routes from the back and the other
from the body. Open the locking cover and pull out on the connectors to disconnect the
adjustable headrest (F 3).

- Disconnect the adjustable lumbar feature. Locate the connection with two gray connectors
on the right side (as sitting); one 3-pin connector routes from the back and the other from
the body. Open the locking cover and pull out on the connectors to disconnect the
adjustable headrest (F 3).

Carefully rotate the unit back to its upright position, sitting on its legs.

4. Loosen the outside back cover. Reach behind the body rear rail and locate the fastening tape
securing the outside back cover to the backside of the frame (F
