POWER1 is an energy storage module for connection to GOLD decoders.
This storage unit supplies the decoder and the locomotive with power even if there is a current
interruption on the track (e.g. dirty tracks).
POWER1 is an "electronic flywheel" of sorts, but thanks to the USP technology the stored energy is
used only when necessary.
The USP circuit of the GOLD decoders checks whether digital information is still transmitted despite
the interrupted contact. It is only then that energy is used from the POWER1 storage module to
ensure continued control of the motor. If digital information is no longer transmitted, the motor will
be deactivated. This prevents the locomotive wheels from continuing to turn, for example: in the
case of a derailment.
In CV112 of the Gold decoders you may set the time after which the motor is switched off if no
digital signal is detected. The default setting is approx. 0.25 sec.
usp - "uninterruptable signal processing
ensures continuous data transfer to the decoder
even if the current collection from the track is
interrupted.
