6 TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM
1) The compressor will not start
2) Display top temperature is not
sufficiently low
LIKELY CAUSES
a) there is no electric current because
the automatic circuit breaker (or fuse,
if applicable), has been triggered
b) the main switch has not been
activated
c) the thermostat has been set too
high
d) compressor overload due to lack
of condensation caused by condenser
being blocked by dust or other
a) evaporator blocked by ice
b) condenser blocked by dust or
other
c) lack of gas (the evaporator does not
defrost correctly)
d) the counter is exposed to draughts
or to direct sunlight
e) the proper air flow is not reaching
the condenser (something, e.g. sheets
of paper, cloths, etc. is blocking the
condenser air passage grille)
f) the thermostat is not functioning
regularly (with the refrigerating
system in perfect working order, the
thermostat intervenes before the set
temperature has been reached)
74
POSSIBILE SOLUTIONS
a) turn off the automatic circuit
breaker (or replace the fuse)
b) enable the main switch
c) if the set temperature of the ther-
mostat is above that of the display
top, the compressor will not start
up; check the setting of the required
temperature (see Section 3.2) with
that of the current temperature
d) enable he main switch to cut off
the power supply to the display unit;
clean the condenser fins, as described
in Section 4.2; then reconnect the
power to the display unit
a) carry out defrosting as follows:
- Turn off the main switch for 10-12
hours in order to permit the evapora-
tor to defrost (see Section 4.4)
b) clean the condenser as indicated
in Section 4.2
c) call a qualified refrigeration engineer
to detect the cause of the gas leak . When
this has been solved, refill the system in
accordance with the quality and quantity
of gas shown on the plate
d) the display unit will not function in
these circumstances: remove it from any
draughts and/or from direct sunlight
e) remove anything which is pre-
venting regular air flow to the
condenser
f) call a qualified refrigeration engi-
neer to replace the thermostat
