5.1 Assembly
Adapting the upper part of the foot stirrup
Required tools: Felt tip pen, hacksaw, file, sandpaper
>
1) Shape the insole or inner sandal.
2) Position the upper part of the foot stirrup together with the lower part of the foot stirrup and
shaped insole on the patient's foot. In doing so, the Torx screw of the orthotic ankle joint is at
the height of the lateral malleolus (see fig. 3).
3) Mark the height of the lower part of the foot stirrup on the upper part of the foot stirrup using a
felt tip pen (see fig. 4).
4) Shorten the upper part of the foot stirrup between two bores so that at least two bores and
no more than three bores remain below the marking (see fig. 5).
5) Round and deburr the cut edge on the upper part of the foot stirrup.
6) Optional: To avoid damaging the shoe, shorten the protruding section of the upper part of the
foot stirrup to two bores if needed.
Mounting the foot stirrup
Required tools: Torx T20 screwdriver
>
1) Insert the ankle joint setting nuts into the slotted hole from the inside of the lower part of the
foot stirrup, noting the rotation lock (see fig. 6).
2) INFORMATION: Position the scale of the upper part of the foot stirrup laterally. Posi
tion the upper part of the foot stirrup on the outside of the lower part of the foot stirrup and
secure it using the two ankle joint setting nuts (see fig. 7).
3) Insert the screws and tighten them (see fig. 8).
Assembling the orthosis
Required tools: Torx T20, T30 screwdrivers.
>
1) Loosen the joint screw of the lower part of the ankle joint and remove the threaded plate.
2) Place the foot stirrup onto the lower part of the ankle joint (see fig. 9).
3) Reinsert the threaded plate (see fig. 10).
4) Install the foot stirrup on the lower part of the ankle joint with the joint screw (see fig. 11).
5) Put the orthosis on together with the shoe and insert.
6) Check that the length of the foot stirrup is correct. If necessary, adjust the foot stirrup using
the bores in the upper part of the foot stirrup and the slotted hole in the lower part of the foot
stirrup so that the joint screw of the orthotic ankle joint is at the height of the lateral malleolus.
7) Tighten the screws to secure the foot stirrup (see fig. 8).
8) Mark the position of the foot stirrup in the a-p direction and the exterior rotation on the insert.
9) Drill the holes for riveting in the insert.
10) Rivet the insert to the foot stirrup.
5.2 Trial fitting
After assembly, the orthosis can be fitted and the fit and function can be checked on the patient.
