Dual-Wavelength SM Loss Measurements (cont'd)
1. Connect the 580XL dual laser source to the 560XL optical power meter
using a suitable reference cable at least 3 meters (10 feet) long. Turn on
both instruments and set the wavelength to 1310 nm on the dual laser
source, and 1310 nm on the optical power meter.
2. Press the [dB/dBm] key on the optical power meter until the "r" annun-
ciator appears and the display reads 0.00 dB. See figure below.
3. Set the dual laser source and optical power meter to 1550 nm.
The expected reading on the optical power meter is -6.25 dBm to
-7.75 dBm.
4. Press the [dB/dBm] key on the optical power meter until the "r" annun-
ciator appears and the display reads 0.00 dB. See figure below.
