Replace Cooling Unit - Apply Mastic, cont'd.
1. To apply correct bead size that results in a complete seal, open
mastic tube by placing cut in nozzle 3/4 inch from tip and cut at 45
degree angle (Fig.18,A).
2. Apply bead of mastic in horizontal direction 3/4 inch wide and 1/2
inch thick to sides of opening just below surface of refrigerator
back (Fig.18,B).
Caution!
The cooling unit kit provides three (3) tubes of
!
mastic, but by applying the correct size bead in the correct
locations, approximately 1.5 tubes will be used for the installa-
tion. Using more than 1.5 tubes acts as an insulator prevent-
ing peak refrigerator performance.
■ Apply mastic to the perimeter of the outer lip. Three/fourth
(3/4) tube of mastic should complete the outer lip.
3. Open new cooling unit package, place cooling unit on work surface
with inside facing up.
4. Use mastic to apply bead 1/2 inch wide and 1/2 inch thick to
evaporator tube as shown (Fig.19,C). Do not apply mastic to
evaporator plates (Fig.19,A).

1. With assistance, turn over new cooling unit. Holding unit by con-
denser tubes at top and absorber tubes at bottom, move it above
opening.
2. Slide fans and fan wires under cooling system and lower the foam
plate squarely into position.
3. Align the mounting holes and apply firm pressure over entire area
of foam plate surface to evenly spread mastic.
!
4. Re-tape edges of foam plate with 2" wide, adhesive backed, HVAC
aluminum tape to complete sealing plate in place.
!
5. Install condenser into place with original screws (2x).
6. Install condenser tube bracket with original screw (1x).
7. Install middle bar into place with original screws (2x).
8. Attach the "Z" shaped bracket to refrigerator with original screw.
9. Confirm flue tube is unobstructed by any blockage. Confirm spiral
baffle is installed in flue tube. Baffle hangs in flue tube by wire
hook over top of tube (Fig.21).
10. Place ice-maker water line and black electrical conduit behind
absorber coils and against foamed plate.

1. Fasten burner box in place using original screw (Fig.15) (1x).
2. Insert spark-flame-sensor electrode into smaller, rear opening of
burner box of new cooling unit with its "L" shaped tip pointing up
toward you (Fig.16).

Caution!
Use high quality tape to avoid damaging the
equipment.
Note:
Cut tapes that extend under fl ue tube 6 inches longer than
necessary and fold three inches of the tape back on itself (sticky side
together). The fold will make it easier to slide tape under the fl ue. Cut off fold
when fi nished.
Caution!
Potential malfunction and damage to equip-
ment. Avoid stripping threads when tightening the condenser,
condenser tube, middle bar, and "Z" shaped bracket into place.
These screws are important in sealing the cooling unit to the
refrigerator body. Do not cross-thread or exceed 20 inch-
pounds of torque.
