Before Using This Equipment
Berkel's slicers are designed to slice meat and other food products safely and
­ e fficiently.­However,­unless­the­operator­is­properly­trained­and­supervised,­
there is the possibility of a serious injury. It is the responsibility of the owner
to­ensure­that­this­slicer­is­used­properly­and­safely,­strictly­following­the­
instructions contained in this manual and any requirements of local law.
No­one­should­use­or­service­this­slicer­without­proper­training­and­supervision.­
All operators should be thoroughly familiar with the procedures contained
in­this­manual.­Even­so,­Berkel­cannot­anticipate­every­circumstance­or­
environment­in­which­its­slicers­will­be­used.­You,­the­owner­and/or­operator,­
must remain alert to the hazards posed by the function of a slicer—particularly
the­sharp­rotating­blade­and­moving­table.­No­one­under­18­years­of­age­should­
operate­this­equipment.­If­you­are­uncertain­about­a­particular­task,­ask­your­
supervisor.
This manual contains a number of safe practices in the General Safety
Instruction Section. Additional warnings are placed throughout this manual.
