5. NORMAL WORKING CYCLE

Before carrying out any maneuver in the battery of valves or in the multiport valve, you must ensure that
the pumps are stopped. When the Valves are actuated, either manually or automatically, you must ensure that
the speed of opening or closing them is slow enough to avoid the generation of sudden variations in the pressure
that may lead to a water hammer.

5.1. Operation with a battery of 5 valves

5.1.1. Filtration

Set the valves in the positions indicated in Fig. 5.1.
During the normal operation of the filter, it is recommended to periodically check the inlet and the outlet
manometers, and to perform a backwash of the filtration media when the difference in pressure is from 0.8 to 1
bar between both manometers.

5.1.2. Backwash

The bed of filtering media forms thousands of channels that collect the impurities and solid waste contained in
water. Over time, sediment may block the collector system. In order to clean the filter, a backwash process must
be carried out, so the dirt kept in the filtering bed will be removed to the drain. After that, the filter will be in perfect
condition again to work properly.
We recommend following the indications given in the international standards DIN19605 & DIN19643 for the
backwash of the bobbin filters. It must be done in the following way:
Stop the pump and set the valves in positions indicated in Fig. 6.1.
Start the pump and proceed with the backwash. It will be done, according to the standard DIN19643, for
7 minutes at a speed of 50 m
loss of filtration media to the drain.
The pressure inside the filter during this operation must not exceed 1 bar for the filters with laterals, and 0.8 bar for
the filters with nozzle plate.
