AXIS Q7424-R Mk II Installation Guide

Install the hardware

Important!
The casing of the AXIS Q7424-R Mk II is not approved for outdoor use. To use the product outdoors, it
must be installed in an approved outdoor housing. Please see www.axis.com for more information on
outdoor housings.
Notes:
• The AXIS Q7424-R Mk II can simply be placed on a flat surface or mounted. See below for mounting
instructions.
• Punch out the protective pads and stick them under the video encoder to prevent scratches on the surface
where the video encoder is placed.
Mount the video encoder
1. Place the video encoder against the wall, and mark the four mounting holes (see image on
page 6).
2. Drill the four mounting holes.
3. Attach the encoder to the wall using screws appropriate to the wall material.
Connect the cables and insert the SD memory card
1. Connect the encoder to the network using a shielded network cable or an SFP module. If using
PoE see note below.
2. Optionally connect external input/output devices, e.g. alarm devices. See page 8 for information
on the terminal connector pins.
3. Optionally connect an active speaker and/or external microphone.
4. Connect the cameras to the video inputs.
5. If powering the unit with AC or DC input, connect an external power supply. See note below.
6. Check that the indicator LEDs indicate the correct conditions. See the table on page 10 for
details.
7. Insert a SD memory card if required and secure the SD memory card lid with the allen key
provided.
Notes:
• The unit can be powered using either the AC power, the DC power input or PoE.
• If powering the unit using DC or AC power, connect the power supply to the power connector at the rear of
the unit.
• If powering the unit using PoE, connect a PoE network cable.
• To fulfill safety requirements, do not use AC power for outdoor installation.
• If using SFP, insert a 100Mbps/1Gbps SFP SerDes module to the SFP slot.
• The unit can only use one Network interface, either via SFP module or via RJ45 connector. SFP module has
higher priority than RJ45 connector.
