Problems
Your espresso has no
crema (froth).
The appliance does not

Possible causes
Coffee grounds too coarse,
stale or too dirty.
The pump was unprimed
due to lack of water.
The Claris cartridge has
been replaced but not
primed.
The removable water tank is
not properly clicked in place.
The steam nozzle is blocked
or scaled up
The milk is too hot.
The shape of the container is
not appropriate.
The milk you are using may
not be suitable.
The steam nozzle is not
properly clipped onto the
articulated arm.
The auto cappuccino
accessory is assembled
incorrectly
Solutions
Try fresher or finer espresso coffee
grounds.
Fill the water tank and reprime the pump
(see paragraph 1). Avoid completely
emptying the tank.

Click the tank into place by pressing firmly.
Descale the steam nozzle (see paragraph
5) or unblock it using a needle.
Use very fresh, very cold milk.
Use a small jug.
Preferably use whole or semi-skimmed milk.
Use very cold, very fresh milk. Try using a
different brand of milk.
Clip it firmly onto the articulated arm (Fig.
18.1, 18.2).
