8.3.2 Framing with Fresh Air Intake
If a finishing material is installed inside the enclosure, its thickness must be added to the following
measurements.
The framing can be constructed of combustible materials.
J : Distance between framing and side fireplace standoff 12" (305 mm)
K : Framing width (Installation with centered fireplace) 61 ¾" (1568 mm)
L : Fresh air intake duct
9 Framing dimensions are for reference only. These measurements are recommended to prevent the ducts from being inside the standoff or have too
tight duct curves. Smaller dimensions can be used depending on the size and type of duct as well as the configuration of the installation.
HVAC duct, as per ULC S110 or UL 181, class 0 or class 1, must withstand temperatures up to 250oF.
