OPERATION AND FUNCTION
7.5.2. Explanation of individual functions and settings
Menu 5.03 / Standby pump
It is possible to use one pump as a standby pump.
This pump is not activated in normal operation. It
is only activated if a pump malfunctions due to a
fault.
The standby pump is subject to standstill
monitoring however and is activated during
pump cycling and pump kick.
Menu 5.07 / Sensor type for level control
The switchgear can be operated for measuring
the level with the following signal transmitters:
• "Float": Float switch
• "Level": Level sensor
• "Bell": Dynamic pressure bell
• "Opt01": Enables the connection of a level
monitor with the following switching points:
• Pump 1 ON/OFF
• Pump 2 ON/OFF
• High water level
The principle sequence for activating and deac-
tivating individual pumps is similar to operation
with discrete fl oat switches. The internal con-
struction of the level monitor assures hysteresis
between the activation/deactivation level of the
relevant pump.
Additionally, a fl oat switch for dry-running pro-
tection can be installed for increased operational
reliability.
Menu 5.39 / Alarm signal when switching off
the pumps via "External OFF"
The pumps can be switched on and off via a sep-
arate signal transmitter (e.g. fl oat switch) via the
"External OFF" contact. This enables additional
dry-running protection to be realised for example.
This function overrides all other switching points
and all pumps are switched off. If this function
is used, you can stipulate how alarm signalling
should take place in case of an open contact here:
• "off": Pump(s) are switched off, there is only an
optical signal as a symbol on the LCD
• "on": Pump(s) are switched off, there is an optical
signal as a symbol on the LCD and an additional
alarm signal.
Menu 5.40 / Pump kick
To prevent longer standstill times for the
connected pumps, a periodical test run can be
performed (pump kick function).
If pump kick is activated, the following parame-
ters must be set:
• Menu 5.41: Defi nition whether pump kick should
also take place if pumps are switched off via
"External Off".
• Menu 5.42: Time interval after which a pump kick
should take place.
• Menu 5.43: Running time of the pump kicks.
