31. Troubleshooting

Symptom
Handset doesn't react/
no message on the
display.
Handset reacts to pressing a key
only with a beep.
Handset display shows
SEARCHING.
No ring can be heard at the door
unit when the bell button is pressed.
Handset doesn't react to
ringing although it is connected
to the base and the ring can
be heard at the door unit.
After pressing the bell button
the ring at the door unit sounds
only a few times and/or no
communication is possible.
The electric door release cannot
be activated.
The battery life of the batteries
in the handset is too short.
No dial tone
The handset doesn't ring.
The caller's number is not displayed.
You hear sounds during a call
caller ID doesn't work
properly.

Cause
The handset isn't switched on.
Batteries of the handset are not inserted correctly.
Batteries are empty, possibly because the base isn't
powered correctly.
Batteries of the handset are used up.
Bad connection between the charging contacts
of handset and base
The keypad lock is activated.
The base is not powered.
The distance between base and handset is too large
or the building fabric is shielding the radio
transmission.
Radio interference
The handset wasn't registered to the base.
The door unit is not powered.
The distance between door unit and base is too
large
or the building fabric is shielding the radio
transmission.
The door unit wasn't registered to the base.
The batteries in the door unit are used up.
The hash key [45] wasn't pressed long enough.
The door release isn't properly connected or the power Connect the door release correctly (see chapter 8.2).

Interferences caused by DSL connection
Remedy
Switch the handset on.
Insert the batteries correctly, watching for correct
Connect the mains adapter correctly to the mains power
and charge the batteries.
Insert new suitable batteries.
Clean the charging contacts.
Deactivate the keypad lock.
Connect the mains adapter of the base correctly.
Change the position of the base and/or the handset.
Switch other radio transmitters and interfering devices off.
Change the position of the devices.
Register the handset to the base.
Insert faultless batteries with the correct polarity or
the door unit correctly to a 12 V DC power supply.
Change the position of the door unit and/or the base.
Register the handset to the base.
Insert new batteries with the correct polarity.
Press and hold the hash key [45] for at least 3 seconds.
Insert new suitable batteries with the correct polarity.
Insert new suitable batteries with the correct polarity.
Connect the telephone cable and the TAE adapter
correctly.
Connect the base to the mains power.
