2.4.1.2.
DC Powered Units
No power cables are included with 24 VDC powered IND131 and IND331 terminals. The 24 VDC
power must be brought directly to the power connection of the Main board and terminated there.
Figure 2-32 shows the three position terminal block provided for the DC power connection. A wire is
not terminated to the center position.

METTLER TOLEDO IND131/IND131x/IND331/IND331xx Installation Manual
The integrity of the power ground for the harsh and J-box versions is important for both
safety and dependable operation of the terminal and its associated scale base. A poor
ground can result in an unsafe condition should an electrical short develop in the
equipment. A good ground connection also minimizes extraneous electrical noise pulses.
The IND131/331 should not share power lines with noise-generating equipment. To
confirm power conditions, use a commercial branch circuit analyzer. If adverse power
conditions exist, a dedicated power circuit or power line conditioner might be required.
FOR CONTINUED PROTECTION AGAINST SHOCK HAZARD CONNECT THE AC VERSION OF THE
HARSH AND JUNCTION BOX ENCLOSURES TO PROPERLY GROUNDED OUTLET ONLY. DO NOT
REMOVE THE GROUND PRONG.
IND131xx and IND331xx terminals when installed inside Division 2 or Zone 2/22
hazardous areas. Refer to the Division 2 and Zone 2/22 Installation Manual 64068795 on
the Resource CD for more details.
BEFORE CONNECTING/DISCONNECTING ANY INTERNAL ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS OR INTERCONNECTING
WIRING BETWEEN ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT ALWAYS REMOVE POWER AND WAIT AT LEAST THIRTY (30)
SECONDS BEFORE ANY CONNECTIONS OR DISCONNECTIONS ARE MADE. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THESE
PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO OR DESTRUCTION OF THE EQUIPMENT AND/OR BODILY HARM.
