PSS(1) DIO Z

Overview

The DIO Z module provides 16 digital inputs and 8 dual-pole switching 2 A

outputs.

Input signals must show a "High" of 24 V DC (+15 ... +30 V DC) and a
"Low" of 0 V DC (-3 ... +5 V DC). The inputs have a filter and are
galvanically isolated through an optocoupler.
Outputs are protected against short-circuit, overload and excess
temperature. They can switch both resistive and inductive loads. Outputs
are galvanically isolated through an optocoupler.
The code for the DIO Z Module in Data Block DB002 is 8001 8011.
The PSS DIO Z Module is designed for use in the Series PSS 3000 Modu-
le Rack.
The PSS1 DIO Z Module is designed for use in the Series PSS 3100
Module Rack.

Functions

Inputs

Input status is transmitted to the CPU via the parallel Bus (Module Rack).
There the status appears as "0"-Signals ("Low") or "1"-Signals ("High"),
which may be processed, depending on how they are programmed. The
status of the inputs is displayed through LEDs, which light as soon as the
"1"-Signal appears at the relevant input.
Diagnostic circuitry checks the function of the inputs, with the exception of
the input filter and the optocoupler. If an error occurs, the controller goes
into STOP-conditon, switches off all the outputs and sends a message to
the CPU display. The input filter and the optocoupler can be tested with
the use of test signals (see "Series PSS 3000/PSS 3100 Installation
Guidelines").
Outputs
Outputs are dual-pole switching 2 A outputs. The load must be connected
between the "+"- and "-" terminals. If the CPU sends a "1"-Signal via the
parallel Bus, the DIO Z will supply 24 V DC to the relevant output. The
status of the outputs is displayed through LEDs, which light as soon as a
"1"-Signal (24 VDC) is present at the relevant output.
Diagnostic circuitry tests the function of the connected outputs. When an
output is switched on, the CPU alternately switches off the "+"- and "-"
terminals on the output, during each cycle.
