2.1.4
Risk of Burns due to Hot Surfaces
The Lathe chuck DURO-M may heat up during operation.
To prevent burns, do not touch the Lathe chuck DURO-M after machining
and allow to cool down before carrying out assembly and maintenance
work.
2.1.5
Dangers due to imbalanced workpieces
With rotating spindles, clamping of imbalanced workpieces generates a
centrifugal force which affects smooth running of the Lathe chuckDURO-M.
Additional risks may occur due to insufficient rotational balance. This ap-
plies in particular in the case of
▪ high speeds;
▪ when clamping asymmetrical workpieces;
▪ when using different top jaws or
▪ all asymmetries of the Lathe chuckDURO-M.
Imbalanced workpieces endanger the personnel, the Lathe chuckDURO-M
and the machine.
In order to compensate for unwanted imbalances and to prevent resulting
damage, the symmetrical mass distribution must be restored and the Lathe
chuckDURO-M must be dynamically balanced with the workpiece.
2.1.6
Collision
If a collision occurs, the Lathe chuck must either be checked on a qualified
basis (by RÖHM) and, if necessary, repaired, or replaced completely.
