Start-up of the device/ Introduction

• Choose a suitable location for the device. Suitable would
be a dry, level, non-slip surface.
• Sensitive surfaces such as the display are possibly pro-
tected with foil. Remove these foils.
Display lighting
• Mains operation: The display is lit continuously. Press the
SNOOZE/LIGHT button in order to increase the intensity
of the display lighting for 8 seconds.
• Battery operation: The display backlight turns off auto-
matically. Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button. The display
is lit for 8 seconds.
Power supply
1. Make sure the grid voltage corresponds to the figures on
the rating plate.
2. Plug the power supply unit into a properly installed
protective contact socket.
3. Connect the device with the power supply unit by
plugging the jack of the power supply unit into the
"DC 5 V
" jack.
CAUTION:
• This device should only be used with the mains supply
unit (included). Do not use it for other devices.
• Only use a 5 V power supply unit (
supply unit may damage the device.
NOTE:
• Disconnect from mains power supply during longer
periods of non-use.
• If you did not insert another reserve battery, the time
and the station memory will be lost as soon as the
power supply is interrupted.
Inserting the reserve batteries
(Batteries are not included in the scope of delivery)
In case of power failure or if the power supply unit is pulled
from the plug, the settings are maintained if the reserve bat-
teries are inserted.
1. Open the battery compartment on the bottom side.
2. Insert three type AA/R6 1.5 V batteries. Check that the
polarity is correct (see battery compartment).
3. Close the battery compartment.
WARNING:
Do not expose the batteries to intense heat, such as sun-
light, fire or similar. Danger of explosion!
CAUTION:
• Batteries may leak and lose battery acid. If the device is
not used for a longer period of time, remove the bat-
teries.
• Different batteries or new and used batteries may not
be used together.
• Batteries must not be disposed of in the garbage.
Please bring used batteries to competent collection
centers or back to the dealer.
NOTE:
Battery operation is also possible with the inserted batteries.
Switching the device on/ off
• Press the RADIO ON/OFF button to turn the device on
or off.
• In order to fully disconnect the device from the mains,
unplug the power adapter from the wall socket.
Temperature display
The current ambient temperature is shown on the bottom
right of the display.
The temperature display can be switched between °C (De-
gree Celsius) and °F (Degree Fahrenheit).
1. Turn off the device.
2. Press the UP button repeatedly.

Setting the Clock

Automatic (in Standby only)
• After plugging the mains plug into the socket, the time

data from the DCF77 station is automatically transferred
after a few minutes. As long as the " " symbol is flash-
ing, the device is searching for the radio signal. If a radio
signal has been found, the " " symbol lights up. The
correct time appears on the display.

NOTE:
The signal can be received without problems within a
radius of approx. 2000 km around Frankfurt / Main, but
interference may occur, depending on local conditions.
This may occur especially in buildings containing a high
percentage of metal, as well as in proximity to TV sets, PCs,
mobile phones etc. which are switched on! If the reception
cannot be automatically adjusted after 10 minutes in spite
of the alignment of the integrated antenna, the reception
in the respective location is too weak. In this case, set the
time manually or change location.
