Cover assembly
In addition to the cover and insu-
lation panel the cover assembly
essentially includes the following:

The emergency release
mechanism
•
The lock on the exterior release
handle (option)
2.2.1 Emergency release
mechanism
The emergency release mechanism
consists of the exterior emergency
release handle (3, Fig. 201), which
is connected to the interior emer-
gency release handle (2) by a cable.

Frame assembly
In addition to the frame, opening
mechanism, drive unit and rain
sensor (option), the frame assembly
essentially consists of the following:
•
The control module
•
The safety cable
•
The cover seal
2.3.1 Control module
The control module consists of
electronic components and a
program stored on them. The
assembly is sealed to protect it from
the elements. The drive unit is
connected to the 5-pin plug
connector (X9), whilst the adapter
wiring harness is connected to the
6-pin plug connector (X3).
The control module has inputs for
the operating voltage and two
switch inputs for selecting the
BUS TOP Premium
position. The opening status of the
roof is indicated by a lamp output
(max. 5 W).
2.3.2 Safety cable
At the front of the frame there is a
safety cable, which is 260 mm long.
It is bolted to the cover. The safety
cable prevents the loss of the cover
assembly and prevents following
vehicles being endangered if the
emergency release is opened
improperly whilst the bus is in
motion.
2.3.3 Cover seal
The cover seal provides good
protection from the ingress of air
and water when the ventilation
hatch is closed. A special elastomer
profile is used as the sealing
element. This profile is placed on
the underside on the surrounding
