Assembly instructions.
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the
mains plug.
Belt grinder (GI150/GI150 2H).
Mount the machine on the Fein GIB/GIBE sub base (see
assembly instructions).
Fasten the sub base to the floor using suitable dowel/bolt
connections. The connections must withstand the forces
that arise during working.
Faulty assembly can cause the sub base or work bench to
tilt over or the machine to loosen from the sub base or
work bench during operation, and lead to serious acci-
dents.
Dismount the following parts on the belt grinder:
(figure 2)
– Upper safety cover (1) with spark guard (2)
– Side cover (7)
– Grinding rest (3)
– Chip/grinding-dust box (4)
– Support surface for plane grinding (5)
– Grinding belt
– Threaded plate (6)
Grinding device (GIL).
Remove the device from its packaging and check the indi-
vidual parts for completeness.
Mount the holding fixture (23) with one of the two
remaining screws of the threaded plate to the left, rear
hole of the belt grinder. Make sure that the threaded hole
faces upwards. (figure 3)
Place the grinding device over the left side of the belt
grinder so that the rear edges of the belt grinder and the
grinding device are flush. Now slide the grinding device
toward the right until the screw fits into the rear hole.
Insert the screw (21) through the hole. The screw must
engage in the threaded hole.
Screw the screw (21) into the holding fixture (23) until
the right sidewall of the belt grinder and the grinding
device are parallel to each other. Check the parallelism
using a straight edge.
Mount the grinding device to the belt grinder with the
fastening screws (26). (figure 4)
Check and, if necessary, correct the parallelism again.
Mount the grinding belt. (see Instruction Manual
(GI150/GI150 2H)
Mount the chip/grinding-dust box (4), the side cover (24)
and the protective cover (13). (figure 2+3)
Electrical connection.
The electrical connection, which is to be provided
by customer, must be carried out by a qualified
electrician.
Observe mains voltage: The mains voltage and the fre-
quency of the power source must agree with the data
onthe type plate of the machine.
Before starting operation for the first time, check the
rotation direction of the motor. The rotation direction
may be changed only by a qualified electrician.
Operating instructions.
Switching on:
Set the On/Off switch (15) to „I".
Switching off:
Set the On/Off switch (15) to „0".
After switching off, the machine runs on for
approx. 50 seconds.
Adjustments.
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the
mains plug.
Open the side cover (24).
Move the grinding belt by hand in the running direction
and check if the grinding belt runs centrally on all three
rollers.
If required, adjust the belt run with adjustment screw
(19). To adjust, loosen screw (18).
Shut the side cover.
Plane grinding (figure 3)
Loosen clamping levers/clamping screws (11/31) and
adjust the guide rails (12) to the workpiece width.
Tighten clamping levers/clamping screws (11/31) again.
