Fig. 14 - main undercarriage
Squeeze the main undercarriage legs inward slightly, and
insert the unit in the slot in the underside of the fuselage.
Fig. 15 - noseleg
Slip the noseleg into its socket, set the wheel to the
"straight ahead" position, and tighten the cross-point
screw.
Fig. 16 - installing the flight battery
The model must now be balanced in order to determine the
correct battery position.
Install the battery, but do not connect it at this point.
Fig. 17 - fitting the wing
Place the wing centrally in the wing saddle, and fit a rubber
band between the dowels on each side of the fuselage to
secure it.
Figs. 18 and 19
Apply the decals and the "robbe" stickers to the finished
model.
Run the receiver aerial down the fuselage and out of the tail
end. Do not shorten the aerial.
Fig. 20 - balancing
Mark the CG position on both sides of the fuselage; it
should be 50 mm aft of the wing root leading edge.
Support the model under the wings at the marked points.
Ideally the model will now balance level, with the nose ang-
led slightly down.
If necessary, move the flight battery forward or aft slightly to
correct any discrepancy.
Mark the battery position in the fuselage, so that it can be
re-installed at the same point when removed and replaced.
It is a good idea to pack pieces of scrap foam round the
battery once the correct position is found, so that there is no
chance of it shifting in flight, and altering the model's CG.

Give the flight battery a full charge.
Switch the transmitter on, and move the rotary throttle con-

trol (function2) to the "motor off" position.
Place the fully charged flight pack in the model and secure it.
Connect the flight battery to switch the receiving system on.
Don't touch the throttle control at this point.
Check the neutral position of the control surfaces. Adjust
the trims on the transmitter (controls D and G) if necessary.
Place the model on the floor and stand behind it.
Checking the operation of the servos
Move the rudder stick to the right - "b" - and the rudder
should also deflect to the right.
Pull the elevator stick back towards you, and the trailing
edge of the elevator should rise - "c".
Operating the motor
Hold the model firmly, in such a way that the propeller is free
to rotate. Do not stand in front of the rotational plane of
the propeller, nor in front of it. Slowly open the throttle by
turning the rotary control. The motor should now start and
run.
Move the rotary control back to the "Off" position.
Disconnect the battery from the speed controller, then
switch the transmitter off.
Caution: whenever you are adjusting or otherwise working
on the model, keep well clear of the rotational plane of the
propeller - injury hazard.
The model is now ready to fly, but only after you have
recharged the battery.
A full battery charge is sufficient for a motor run of about five
minutes.

Test-flying, flying notes
Please read the sections entitled "Routine pre-flight
checks" and "Flying the model" in the Safety Notes befo-
re attempting to fly the model for the first time.
For your first few flights please wait for a day with no more
than a gentle breeze. A good flying site consists of a large,
flat, open grassy field. Keep well clear of high-tension
overhead cables, busy roads, residential areas, airfields and
other obstacles.
4
Always start by moving the rotary throttle control to the
"motor stopped" position. Switch the transmitter on, then
connect the flight battery. Check all the working systems
one last time.
If the model cannot be taken off from the ground, ask an
experienced friend to launch for you.
With the motor running at full-throttle, give the Cessna a
firm launch, directly into any breeze, with the fuselage and
wings level. Take control of the model immediately.
Keep the aeroplane flying straight and level at first, allowing
it to pick up plenty of speed before initiating a smooth
climb. A broad, dynamic flying style suits the Cessna best,
as this keeps its airspeed at a safe level all the time.
Adjust the trims if necessary.
When you notice a marked decline in motor power, throttle
back and land the model.
It is important to observe carefully how the model reacts in
flight. If you needed to correct a particular turning tenden-
cy, adjust the trims when the model is back on the ground.
If you have access to a smooth, hard landing strip (tarmac),
the Cessna can be taken off like the full-size machine. Take
care to take off directly into wind, holding the aircraft's nose
straight with rudder if necessary. Allow the aeroplane to pick
up plenty of speed on the ground before lifting off with gent-
le application of up-elevator.
This symbol means that you must dispose of small electri-
cal and electronic equipment separately
from the general household waste when it
reaches the end of its useful life. Take your
electronic units to your local waste collection
point or recycling centre. This applies to all
countries of the European Union, and to
other European countries with a separate
waste collection system.
