4. Installing the hemming binder

WARNING :
To protect against possible personal injury due to abrupt start of the machine, be sure to start the
following work after turning the power off and ascertaining that the motor is at rest.

Install hemming binder ❶ on the sewing machine using
setscrews ❷ (tightening torque : 4 to 6 N·m).
■ Standard of installing position
• Vertical position : clearance between left guide section
and throat plate : 0.3 to 1.2 mm
• Longitudinal position : clearance between hemming
binder and presser : 0.3 to 1.2 mm
• Left guide : 8 to 10 mm from left end of throat plate
• Right guide : clearance between right guide and right
end of presser : 0.2 to 0.8 mm
• Assemble the hemming binder so that it is almost
parallel to top surface of throat plate and front face of
throat plate.
1. Installing position above is the stan-
dard installing position. Use the sewing
machine after adjusting the installing
position to the position where you can
handle the binder with ease.
2. Make sure that the sewing machine
and the hemming binder do not come
in contact with each other at the time
of open/close of the hemming binder.
■ Adjusting the position between hemming binder
and air cylinder (DLN-6390-7)
Loosen setscrew ❺ and adjust the lateral position of

air cylinder so that the clearance between top end ❹
of the hemming binder and top end ❸ of the air cylin-
der is 2 to 3 mm.
Adjust so that top end ❸ of the air cylinder is almost in
•
the center against top end ❹ of the hemming binder.
