6. Maintenance and cleaning
6.1 Maintenance
The diaphragm seal system is maintenance-free.
Checks should be carried out on a regular basis to ensure the measurement accuracy of the
pressure gauge. The checks or recalibrations must be carried out by qualified skilled person-
nel with the appropriate equipment.
WARNING!
Repairs must only be carried out by the manufacturer or appropriately qualified
skilled personnel.
6.2 Cleaning
With contaminated, viscous or crystallising media, it may be necessary to clean the
diaphragm from time to time. Only ever remove deposits from the diaphragm with a soft
brush and suitable solvent.
CAUTION!
▶
Before cleaning, correctly disconnect the instrument from the pressure supply,
switch it off and disconnect it from the mains, if needed.
▶
Do not use sharp objects or aggressive detergents to clean in order to avoid
damage to the sensitive and extremely thin diaphragm.
▶
Clean the instrument with a moist cloth.
▶
Electrical connections, if available, must not come into contact with moisture.
▶
Wash or clean the dismounted instrument before returning it, in order to protect
personnel and the environment from exposure to residual media. Residual
media in dismounted instruments can result in a risk to persons, the environment
and equipment. Sufficient precautionary measures must be taken.
6.3 Cleaning in place (CIP) cleaning process
The following instructions are valid only for instruments which have been marked as suitable
for CIP in the data sheet.
When cleaning from outside ("wash down"), observe the permissible temperature and
■
ingress protection.
Only use cleaning agents which are suitable for the seals used.
■
Cleaning agents must not be abrasive nor corrosively attack the materials of the wetted
■
parts.
Avoid thermal shocks or fast changes in the temperature. The temperature difference
■
between the cleaning agent and rinsing with clear water should be as low as possible.
Negative example: Cleaning with 80 °C and rinsing at +4 °C with clear water.
