X71/X72: communication connection
The connection technology and plug assignment
comply with the specifications in the technical
directives.
6.3.2 Connecting the bus coupler as an
intermediate station
1. Set up the correct pin assignment (see Tab. 5 on
page 61) on the plug connections if you do not use
pre-assembled cables.
2. Connect the incoming bus connection to the X71
(BUS IN) plug (1).
3. Connect the outgoing bus connection to the X72
(BUS OUT) plug (2).
The EtherCAT cable must at least fulfil the
requirements for category CAT5e and should be a
cable with double shielding (S/STP) with a maximum
length of 100 m.
4. Connect the shield on both sides of the bus cable
directly to the plug housing (EMC housing) if non-pre-
assembled cables and plugs with metal housing are
used. This protects data lines from terminal
interference.
Ensure that the plug housing is securely fitted to the
bus coupler housing.
