1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS and all
important notices on the appliance before using. Failure to do so
may result in personal injury or damage to the unit.
2. DANGER – For each of the following situations, do not attempt
repairs yourself; return the product to an authorized service
facility for service if it is still under warranty or discard the
appliance. Do not operate the appliance if it has a damaged
electrical cord or if it is malfunctioning or if it is dropped or
damaged in any manner. Never use with an extension cord
unless plug can be fully inserted. Do not attempt to defeat this
safety feature.
3. DANGER If the appliance falls into the water, DON'T reach for it!
First unplug it and then retrieve it. If the electrical components of
the appliance get wet, unplug the appliance immediately.
4. For INDOOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY, NOT for commercial use.
5. Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not
be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
6. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug,
or if it is malfunctioning or if it is dropped or damaged in any
manner. If the external flexible cable or cord of this luminaire is
damaged, it shall be exclusively replaced by the manufacturer or
his service agent or a similar qualified person in order to avoid
a hazard.
7. To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or electrical socket
getting wet, position the unit to one side of a wall mounted

to prevent water from traveling along the cord and coming into
contact with the socket. If the plug or socket does get wet, DO
NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that
supplies power to the appliance. Then unplug and examine for
the presence of water in the socket.
8. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and
above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have
been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
9. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use,
before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never
yank cord to pull the plug from the outlet. Grasp the plug and
pull to disconnect.
10. Do not use the appliance for other than intended use. The use
of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance
manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
11. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to
weather or to temperatures below freezing. Do not expose the
unit to direct sunlight.
12. If an extension cord is necessary, ensure the connection is
watertight and dust proof. A cord with a proper rating should be
used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the appliance
rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so
that it will not be tripped over or pulled. The connection should
socket to prevent water
from dripping onto the
socket or plug. A "drip-loop"
should be arranged. The
"driploop" is that part of the
cord below the level of the
socket, or the connector if
an extension cord is used,

RECOMMENDATION:
1. Use only Exo Terra Turtle UVB Lamp as per the wattage rating
®
indicated on the electrical data label located on the fixture.
2. UV radiation slowly decreases over time: to assure that your
animals continuously receive the right amount of UV, we
recommend to replace the Exo Terra
months. Subscribe to our "Restore the Rays" program on www.
exo-terra.com to receive a reminder when your Exo Terra
UVB Lamp needs to be replaced.
3. This equipment is FOR INDOOR USE ONLY.
4. Warning: Disconnect the plug of this light unit, and any other
electrical equipment, used for the terrarium, paludarium or
aqua-terrarium before placing your hands in the water; and/or
performing any maintenance of any kind.
5. Warning: Whenever installing, removing or changing bulbs
or maintaining, installing or removing the Exo Terra
UVB Fixture or any other equipment, always ensure that it is
unplugged.
Installation of Lighting Unit (>> Diagram p.34):
Integrated into the Exo Terra Turtle UVB Fixture is a mounting
®
system that will allow you to easily clamp the unit onto the terrarium.

1. Using a screw driver, loosen the mounting system's two (2)
plastic attachment screws. (B)
2. Gently place the bracket on the rim of the terrarium. (C)
3. Using a screw driver, tighten the mounting system's two (2)
plastic attachment screws. (D)
4. Do not over-tighten.
Bulb replacement (>> Diagram p.34):
RECOMMENDATION: Exo Terra Turtle UVB Lamp (PT2179)
®
1. Using a screw driver, remove the two (2) screws and clamping
nuts that hold the bulb onto the unit. (E) This will detach the used
bulb from the lighting unit.
2. Attach the new bulb onto the unit by tightening the two (2)
screws and clamping nuts. Use a screw driver. (F)
3. Recycle. Dispose of the used bulb responsibly.

terrarium before placing your hands in the water; and/or performing
